Snow Settling Levels - Change

Snow settling levels should be interpreted alongside forecast rainfall and atmospheric instability, as they are only reliable when there is a reasonable likelihood of showers or rainfall. The snow settling level is calculated using the 850mb temperature and geopotential height, modeled against observed settling levels.

The accompanying maps illustrate the difference in the Snow Settling Level forecast by the GFS model between today's run and yesterday's for the same timestamp. Red areas on the map indicate where today's forecast predicts a higher snow settling level compared to yesterday's, while blue areas show where the forecast is lower.
